New Radio Shows for the Spring

Barry’s WBUJ 99.5 FM The Mix welcomes four new and diverse radio shows this spring semester. This year, the five hosts of these shows will showcase their voices and perspectives to entertain, educate, and inspire its listeners.


The following shows will discuss a variety of topics to add a little, easy-listening fun to your days.


Once Upon a Stan – Thursdays at 3 p.m.


Anjali Anirude, a junior majoring in communication and media studies, and Ashley Mobley, a senior television and digital media major and social media coordinator at The Buccaneer, are hosts of the show “Once Upon a Stan.” Centered around fan culture and personal experiences, this show will keep you updated on the latest news about your favorite celebrities, movies, and TV shows. Mobley and Anirude want this show to be a safe environment for fans to feel seen and heard. Tune in to them every Thursday at 3 p.m. and follow their Instagram to keep up with the latest on @onceuponaastan.

The Buccaneer Athletic – Mondays at 3 p.m.


Buccaneer writer Laura Blanco, a junior majoring in television and digital media brings “The Buccaneer Athletic” to the station. This radio show brings the latest sports news, interviews student athletes and others in the athletic department. You can listen to Blanco’s show every Monday at 3 p.m.


Toxic and Youth – Mondays at 4:20 p.m.


These days we all must be ready to recognize red flags, fake friendships, and toxic environments. WBUJ 99.5 welcomes “Toxic and Youth” a radio show hosted by Karol Fragoso, a freshman majoring in public relations and marketing. This program will help listeners learn and identify green flags for self-growth. It will discuss toxic experiences, unattainable high standards, and how to overcome them to become a better version of ourselves.


“This space was made especially to meditate, where we let our emotions rise and reflect on how beautiful and stressful life is,” said Fragoso. Listen to what she has to say every Monday at 4:20 p.m.


Healthy, Happy Life Hacks – Thursdays at 5 p.m.


Dr. Lauren Shure, associate professor of counseling in Adrian Dominican School of Education is the host of “Healthy, Happy Life Hacks." The hacks are social-emotional skills that can be learned and integrated into your daily life to improve your mental health, sense of fulfillment and purpose, and satisfaction in relationships. Each week she and a guest will guide you through a new happy life hack. Catch her show every Thursday at 5 p.m.
